Mighty Warrior

Project: Solstice (Marshall Shredmaster)
Variant: Marshall Shredmaster

Build description

This is an awesome Distortion! Pretty basic build… The only difficulty I found was accurately mounting and soldering the potentiometers (because I drilled the holes in the enclosure a bit too large) Will not do that again for I now have the correct size bit. As far as its sound, I’m gonna replace the greenback in my VOX with a BadCat to give me propper bass response because there is plenty bass available to dial in with this pedal! Plenty of gain… With the gain at 12 o’clock you get some nice ACDC sound. I’m slightly disappointed about the volume, seems unity is around 2 or 3 o’clock depending on where you set your gain, but not a deal breaker with this pedal. Coupled with a nice boost and a compressor, the sound is phenomenal. Overall, I’m well pleased.

Shred

Project: Solstice (Marshall Shredmaster)

Build description

Built this one straight by instructions, just put NOS Op Amps.
I didn’t have great expectations, so I was pleasantly surprised by this pedal. It brings the sound of the cranked JCM800 into my room.
Some friends say this is the best sounding dirt pedal I’ve ever made.
Let’s agree with them. 🙂

Clon ShredMonster

Project: Solstice (Marshall Shredmaster)

Build description

A beast sound, perform as it described the document, only in my city I did not find the pots 9mm so I had to do with 16mm, there to add more cable than normal but stay well, also change the box for so the pots fit the most similar to the original, the rest is aesthetic detail is based on etching.

Shreds!

Project: Solstice (Marshall Shredmaster)

Build description

This was my second PCB but it ended up being my first fully assembled pedal. Did the graphics myself, etched it on the enclosure and it worked the first time. Awesome!

The circuit itself has a lot of gain and I find it’s a good companion to the Equinox (Marshall Guv’nor), which sits right before this one in my drives stack. Lower gain settings also work good but I found it shines around medium gain.

A little tighter than the Equinox, but also rewarding as a starter project for beginners!

Acid Shredder

Project: Solstice (Marshall Shredmaster)
Variant: Straight up clone

Build description

No substitutions, just as the doc is written. This was my first attempt at acid etching. I tried to do a reverse acid etch where the logo and writing are raised but the muratic acid just ate the words off. So I had them engraved at a local trophy shop. I wish the font was a little deeper and a different style but oh well. I will re attempt the etch with another enclosure. For now it plays!
