The classic TS circuit with a twist. I recommend using sockets for the clipping diode pads. Also, socket the jumper pads to select mid EQ before clipping, after clipping, or no mid EQ (stock TS-9). Finally, socket C3 and C4 to experiment with different cap values for the midrange sweep.
The Cirrus/ST-9 circuit nicely expands on the classic TS design and gives you additional useful tone shaping options. Plus, if you decide you don’t need the additional midrange control, just use the jumpers to select the stock TS-9 circuit.
Variant: St - 9 + secondary clipping
Built the standard st9.
Added asymetrical clipping using ba282 which gives an option with bigger headroom. Not that it lacks any 😉
914 are the other diode array.
Sound is superb. So are the pcb and docs.
Modifications or part substitutions
3 ba282 ala dynamic overdrive style.
killer ts variant
this is my first aion build, and let me tell you..it did not disappoint..ive been building for close to a year now and have built quite a pile of pedals including ts clones and a number of other variants..this is by far the best yet!..i would almost say the best dirt pedal period that i have built for its sound and versality..and i have only scratched the surface with all the clipping options..i just finished and have not boxed it up yet,so maybe i post a few pix when i do that..just had to say a few words about this fine pedal..and it sounds best when cranked!(obviously)
