CLEAR REFLECTION

Project: Vector (Deep Blue Delay)

Build description

RESISTORS: All 1% metal film – No value substitution

CAPACITORS: A mix of solid polymers, MLCCs & box caps

OpAmp: OPA2134

VARIANT: DEEP BLUE DELAY / NO TRIMMER OPTION

OVERALL, this was an easy build for me & will be an easy build for anybody interested to try.

TEST RESULTS: A touch of warm, clean & water-clear analog delay in a digital format. It’s very easy to dial in your desired types of delay.

What brand of delays do you guys use? Do not delay! Buy, build & play through it yourself. It’s not just any delay. It’s Kevin’s VECTOR DELAY! And when you’re done, please tell us about it. Thanks & Happy HoliDELAY!

What’s our Vector Victor?

Project: Vector (Deep Blue Delay)
Variant: Deep Blue

Build description

Went with the Deep Blue variant, set the trim at 50%, crossed my fingers with a Tayda PT2399. Sounds awesome. It’s quiet and the sweep of the pots is perfect. Just a great delay.

Modifications or part substitutions

I like top mounted jacks. More room on the pedalboard, eh?

Vector Delay

Project: Vector (Deep Blue Delay)
Variant: Stock Kit

Build description

So I decided to try one of the kits since they were on sale. I chose the Vector (Deep Blue Delay). The build was very easy and the end product is very professional! Pedal sounds great.

Modifications or part substitutions

No mods just built straight from the kit.

Retro Delay

Project: Vector (Deep Blue Delay)
Variant: Rebote 2.5

Build description

Just finished my 2nd build of the Vector. I built the Rebote 2.5 version because I’ve built those before and I had those parts in the shop.

There appears to be a mistake in the Rebote version parts list. R18 – Deep Blue Delay says 33r, Rebote says OMIT. You MUST have something in R18, you cannot OMIT. This is in the 9vdc power supply path. If you OMIT R18 you will have no 9v past the LED. This is shown in the schematic. Rebote parts list should correct R18 to “33r” or “JUMPER”. Once I put a 33r in R18 everything worked fine. Hope this helps somebody. Drove me crazy for a while getting the circuit to work.

The delay sounds great! Super smooth and quiet. Possibly quieter than the Rebotes I’ve built on other PCBs/layouts. Very solid build too. I like it a lot!!

Modifications or part substitutions

Rebote 2.5 – R18, parts list says OMIT. I put in 33r, needed to complete circuit. See schematic.

Deep Blue Delay Kit

Project: Vector (Deep Blue Delay)

Build description

This is the third Aion kit I’ve built. I discovered the Refractor and Andromeda via RJ Ronquillo’s YouTube demos. I had minimal soldering experience and almost no electrical knowledge before beginning these builds. The directions provided are very detailed and clear with great illustrations. If you’re new to this, like I was, don’t be afraid. If you’re careful, patient and double check everything as you go along, it will turn out just fine. Just follow the steps. I love the pedals I’ve built and had so much fun putting them together! The best part aside from playing the pedals is learning about what goes into them. Now I can identify components and it’s not such a magical mystery when I look inside a pedal.

The Vector sounds great as it should! I love the top mount jacks and quality components throughout. It’s on my board alongside some pricy boutique pedals and I’m a happy. Thanks Aion! I hope to see more kits available soon.
